I don’t know about you but I just find that taking a bath is one of the things that we do in life that does not turn me on. I know some people simply love lying in a bathtub of hot water; usually it is members of the fairer sex who fill the bath to the top with hot water and fancy smelling oils, surrounded by candles! Me? I’m a shower man, I find it invigorating and I find that I am completely refreshed after a hard day at the office or on the road, or awake and ready for the day ahead when I take my shower first thing in the morning.

Apart from a shower being my preference, there is a cost element to it as well. We are on a water meter, in common with many people today, and a shower uses just a fraction of the water used in a bath.  What about heating the water as well, think how much fuel is used to heat and to re-heat water after a bath is filled. Some idea of this can be found if your boiler is one of the instantaneous ones which turn on and off when you run the tap. Next time you fill the bath, listen to the boiler burning all that precious fuel.

My preference is for an electric shower, the Mira Sport which I have gives you instant hot water the moment it is turned on, no running it whilst the hot water comes through from the tank or boiler, and the cost of taking a shower in terms of electricity can hardly be measured. So next time you decide on a bath or shower, think about our environment and of course, your pocket!
